Common Name: Fennec Fox
Scientific Name: Vulpes zerda
Conservation Status: Least concern (Wacher, et al., 2015).
Habitat: Arid desert environments, stable and/or sparsely vegetated sand dunes (Dorst & Dandelot, 1970; Coetzee, 1977).
Range: Sandy deserts and semi-deserts of northern Africa, ranging from Western Sahara and Mauritania to northern Sinai (Asa, et al., 2004; Asa & Cuzin, 2013).
Diet: Small rodents, lizards, birds, eggs, insects, fruit, leaves, and roots (Adams, 2004).
Threats: Habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation due to increasing anthropogenic development (Wacher, et al., 2015).
