Common Name: Red Fox

Scientific Name: Vulpes vulpes

Conservation Status: Least Concern (Hoffman & Sillero-Zubiri, 2021).

Habitat: Their natural habitat consists of a dry, mixed landscape; they generally prefer mosaic patchworks of scrub, woodland, and farmland. Also can be observed in tundras, deserts,  forests, urban areas, moorlands, mountains,  and sand dunes (Hoffman & Sillero-Zubiri, 2021).

Range: Distributed across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to southern North America, Europe, North Africa, the Asiatic steppes, India, and Japan (Hoffman & Sillero-Zubiri, 2021).

Diet: Omnivore; birds, mammals, reptiles, carrion, insects, terrestrial non-insect arthropods, and fruit (Fox, 2007).

Threats: Habitat degradation, loss, fragmentation, exploitation, and direct and indirect persecution (overhunting and poaching in some areas) (Hoffman & Sillero-Zubiri, 2021).
